About Us

The British and Irish Network of Congenital Anomaly Researchers (BINOCAR) comprises of a group of researchers who work closely with several congenital anomaly registers across the United Kingdom,the Republic of Ireland and the European Union.

Aim

The aim of BINOCAR is to provide expert advice and resources for research into the epidemiology, frequency, nature and outcomes of congenital anomalies for the population of the British Isles.

Objectives

Conduct of research into the causes and consequences of congenital anomalies, in accordance with Health Research Authority policies and regulations
Provision of research resources through maintaining and facilitating access to the research database of linked congenital anomaly outcomes (BINOCARD)
Provision of information to support planning and administration of the provision made for health and social care for pregnancies and infants affected by congenital anomalies
Provision of support for the work of The National Congenital Anomaly and Rare Disease Registration Service (NCARDRS) in its research capacity
Provision of information to clinicians to support their clinical practice
