BINOCAR comprises of 5 historical congenital anomaly registers in England (NorCAS, CAROBB, WANDA, EMSYCAR, SWCAR) and one disease-specific register (NDSCR) covering England and Wales. Anonymised historical data collected by these registers are available for research purposes (see BINOCARD).

Regional registers were also established for West Midlands (WMCAR) and Yorkshire & Humber region (YHCAR), but these did not submit data to BINOCAR.

binocar registersFollowing the establishment of NCARDRS (National Congenital Anomaly and Rare Disease Registration Service) at Public Health England, all the English congenital anomaly registers and NDSCR have become incorporated into NCARDRS regional teams. All registry descriptions given refer to the historical registers which existed up until 31 March 2015.

Other congenital anomaly registers in the UK include The Congenital Anomaly Registration and Information Service (CARIS) in Wales, and the Glasgow Congenital Anomalies Register. In the Republic of Ireland there are three regional congenital anomaly registers: Cork & Kerry, South Eastern (HSE-SE) and Dublin.

The map shows the geographical coverage and data availability of the various congenital anomaly registers in the mentioned.
