A new paper using data from the Irish registers on the rising incidence of neural tube defects is published
3 June 2014
The paper using Irish data entitled 'Neural tube defects in the Republic of Ireland in 2009-11' has been published in the Journal of Public Health.
The main finding of the paper is that the incidence of neural tube defects in the Republic of Ireland appears to be increasing. They suggest that renewed public health interventions, including mandatory folic acid fortification, must be considered to reduce the incidence of neural tube defects.
